DDT’s Desperation

Out of desperation, Deposed Donald Trump (DDT) is trying to convince not only evangelicals to vote for him but also parts of the electorate, like LGBTQ people and Blacks, who he has either rejected or persecuted.

On The View, Whoopi Goldberg ridiculed “crook” DDT after top ally Kellyanne Conway claimed the audience at a Black Detroit church mostly comprised of white people was 8,000. It was actually 200. Detroit native and longtime journalist Ron Fournier observed, “This crowd was bussed into a city they don’t know to cheer for a felon they don’t know how to live without.” The pastor hosting DDT’s rally said Blacks laughed in his face when he asked them to attend.

One of DDT’s campaign workers said that DDT’s second term will “create a safer and more prosperous America for ALL Americans, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or creed!” Avoided, however, are LGBTQ+ rights. DDT’s policies erased Obama-era LGBTQ+ protections and banned U.S. embassies from flying the rainbow flag. He promises prison for anyone involved in gender-affirming care for trans youth.

In answer to President Joe Biden’s support for long-term immigrant residents in the U.S., DDT proposes expediting the green card process for all foreign-born graduates of U.S. universities. The idea helps U.S. CEOs dependent on immigrant labor for low-paying jobs and specialized work requiring a higher level of education.

DDT is fixated on Taylor Swift as with all celebrities. Author Rami Setoodeh, who has extensively interviewed DDT for his new book Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America through the Looking Glass, thinks DDT believes he can get the liberal 34-year-old to endorse him. Setoodeh also commented that DDT couldn’t remember who he is after their interviews, citing a 2021 meeting when DDT said he didn’t remember Setoodeh and “had this vacant look on his face.”

For his June 27 debate with Biden, DDT isn’t desperate enough to prepare. DDT’s preparation is chatting with Republican politicians and bad-mouthing Biden with sound bites for Fox to repeat ad nauseum. DDT displays the fear that he won’t perform well as he waffles between claims of Biden as a feeble old man and one who is hyped by some mysterious drug.

Also continuing his rallies, DDT targeted Blacks in Philadelphia this weekend and told the conservative Faith and Freedom Coalition Conference that “we answer to God in Heaven” although he broke at least seven of the Ten Commandments. To this audience, DDT didn’t complain about his recent conviction for lying about using business funds to cover his sexual relationship with a porn star while his wife was home with their new baby and other indictments about stealing classified documents, trying to overturn the 2020 election, and calling on violence. Instead, DDT sets up his supporters for his loss in November, priming them to be violent if he loses and telling them it would be an “injustice.”  

Fox seems to be clinging to DDT although he posted “nobody can ever trust” Fox’s reporting after former GOP House Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-WI), now on the network’s Board of Directors, supported Biden. He criticized DDT’s character, saying he puts himself above the Constitution, making him “unfit for office.”

About the current government, a source reported DDT’s position by saying “yes, we do really want to burn it all down.” In addition to the Heritage Foundation Project 2025, DDT has his own Agenda 47, generalities for a collection of destructive ideas.

The world won’t be voting for U.S. president in November, but if it did, DDT is a sure loser. In 34 countries across several continents, more people have confidence in Biden concerning world affairs than DDT, and confidence in the White House slumped badly while DDT was there, dropping to record-low ratings. 

On the other hand, independents now determine many political winners and losers. In a new Politico/Ipsos survey, 21 percent of independents said DDT’s conviction makes them less likely to support DDT. Fox also has a new survey out showing Biden two points ahead of DDT across the board and in rural areas. Over six in ten respondents also have a favorable view of NATO which DDT hates.

Headlines declare that DDT is outdoing Biden in getting donations, ones largely coming from about a dozen billionaires. Timothy Mellon alone just gave him $50 million in addition to another $25 million plus an additional $25 million to other GOP candidates and PACs. The 2010 Supreme Court decision, Citizens United v. FEC, is responsible for the ability of massive donations to pour into DDT’s coffers. Three justices in the majority vote—John Roberts, Samuel Alito, and Clarence Thomas—still sit on the bench, reaping millions from their positions. These donors hope to buy a candidate who opposes the wealth tax based on net wealth. Other donors respond to DDT’s rabid lies.

Trying to save the donations for his personal legal fees, DDT plans to use over three dozen conservative groups for his ground campaign. These volunteers can be financed with unlimited corporate dollars and untraceable dark money off-limits to a federal campaign. Former VP Mike Pence isn’t endorsing DDT, but he’s spending $10 million helping DDT by trying to extend the 2017 tax cuts benefitting the wealthy and big business.

During last week’s meeting with business leaders, they criticized him, and now he wants anyone who doesn’t support him to be fired. Support for him may come from the belief that DDT will hurt them whereas Biden won’t.

An observation from the New Yorker about the long-term effect for billionaires donating to DDT:

“By occupying power, therefore, he would serve the immediate financial interests of the one per cent, and, indeed, the 0.001 per cent…. But their support for Trump could well prove shortsighted. Many of the policies that he and his advisers are openly or privately floating—imposing much higher tariffs on imported goods; carrying out mass deportations of undocumented workers; and engineering a devaluation of the dollar—could raise prices throughout the economy and lead to an inflationary spiral.

“Larry Summers, the Harvard economist and former Treasury Secretary who criticized the Biden Administration’s spending policies during the pandemic, recently pointed to the ‘real risk during a Trump Presidency that we would again see mortgage rates above ten per cent.’ If that happened, the broader economy would surely tank, corporate profits and financial markets would be hit, and many of America’s business leaders, Republican and Democrat, would be left looking back wistfully to the Biden era.”

New York – Civil Business Fraud Costs:

DDT’s lawyers want to force Judge Arthur Engoron into recusing himself because he talked to a lawyer who insinuated the conversation was about DDT’s case. The lawyer began to renege of his initial claim that he would tell Engoron how he should rule.  

Florida – DDT’s Taking Classified Documents: 

Prosecutors have asked DDT’s Judge Aileen Cannon for a new gag order against DDT to limit his statements about agents searching Mar-a-Lago in 2022. DDT has covertly called for violence against them by lying about their trying to kill him, and a MAGA supporter has threated to “slaughter” agents and their families “in their own home.” Cannon has a hearing for both parties from both sides on Monday. Monday’s hearing also targets DDT’s claim that Smith is improperly funded by an indefinite DOJ budget line item.

Cannon finally opposed DDT by denying attorneys general from 24 red states who want to testify against special counsel Jack Smith’s request for the gag order. Hearings on Friday about special counsel Jack Smith’s legitimacy, a decision for the Supreme Court and not a district judge, is the first move forward since the indictment’s 40 felony charges. The D.C. Circuit Court also settled the question of special counsels’ validity in Morrison v. Olson (1988), refusing DDT’s legal claim,meaning that Cannon is wasting more time to hold hearings on well-settled precedents.

Two federal judges, senior to Cannon who has heard only four federal cases, went public with their earlier request that she step aside from the case. She refused their appeal but has indicated incompetence, cost taxpayers over $1 million to build a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) near the tiny satellite courthouse in Fort Pierce (FL) where people can study classified documents, lost multiple staff members, stalled by waiting long periods of time to rule on “no-brainer” motions, created a huge backlog of motions, and repeatedly favored DDT in her rulings and other actions as also proved by her antagonism toward prosecutors and Smith. The conservative 11th Circuit Court overturned her rulings in an earlier case. 

Tuesday, Cannon’s hearing will consider DDT’s request to exclude evidence from the search at Mar-a-Lago and testimony from Evan Corcoran DDT’s former attorney misled by DDT obstruct the government’s investigation. 

Supreme Court:

The same loss of respect by Cannon’s court is also exhibited by the U.S. Supreme Court which uses the same stalling technique in their delay for ruling cases about DDT’s absolute immunity and releasing January 6 insurrectionists. Cases benefiting Republicans quickly receive opinions such as invalidating Biden’s Covid test-or-vaccinate policy. The question regarding DDT’s immunity refers only to him while he was in office, allowing a narrow ruling. The attempt to overturn an election should not be an immunity for DDT, but the ideology of the court’s majority may not view the situation as this simple. Yet the 20th Amendment to the Constitution states:

“The terms of the President and the Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January.”

Conservative justices, however, may not be persuaded by this language.
