GQP ‘Spiritual Leader’ Demands Followers “Kiss the Ring’

President Joe Biden is making decisions for the United States, but Deposed Donald Trump (DDT), declaring on conservative media that the presidential election was stolen from him, waits at Mar-a-Lago for followers to come pay obeisance to him.

Sycophant Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who calls DDT almost every day, is again going to Mar-a-Lago to golf—and get him to build up the Republican party, now badly split after the impeachment and House Minority Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) attack on DDT. Last Tuesday, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) visited DDT. Brad Parscale, fired from being campaign manager and responsible for questionable expenditures of millions of campaign dollars, went to Mar-a-Lago for a long meeting. Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) held a fundraiser on Saturday night.

Absent from DDT’s side for a few years, Steve Bannon is back. During the first few years of DDT in the White House, Bannon played him like a fiddle to accomplish his ends but got forced out. Once gone, Bannon stole almost a million dollars from a GoFundMe website ostensibly to build a tiny portion of DDT’s southern border wall, but DDT pardoned him for that offense shortly before Biden was inaugurated.

Now Bannon has another plan: run DDT for the House, become the Speaker because he believes Congress will turn Republican, and impeach Biden. His accusation is that Biden “stole” the election.

Top DDTers also have other plans such as making DDT’s first White House press secretary Reince Priebus the Wisconsin governor although Tony Evers has the position for another three years. In Pennsylvania, GOP Sen. Pat Toomey isn’t running in 2022, and the Republican party has its eye on a QAnon candidate. Toomey voted for DDT’s conviction in the impeachment, and furious Republicans announced they don’t elect people “to do the right thing.” The current criterion is to follow whatever corruption DDT wants. Bannon said, “Any candidate who wants to win in Pennsylvania in 2022 must be full Trump MAGA.”

Flush with what DDT sees as a strong following, he plans to put his extremist loyalists into primaries. They may win against other Republicans, but moderate Republicans and independents could elect Democrats. For example, Arizona GOP chair Kelli Ward might lose a general election against incumbent Mark Kelly in 2022 for supporting conspiracy theories and leading her party in censuring Cindy McCain, former Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) wife, for supporting Biden. In Georgia, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, an outspoken QAnon conspiracy theorist removed from her committee assignments, could run against former Sen. David Perdue in the primary, reducing the possibility of the Republicans defeating Democrat incumbent Raphael Warnock. DDT has clashed with Republicans who might defeat Democrats for Congress, like former Sen. Kelly Ayotte in New Hampshire.

The question is how long DDT will trust Bannon. Touting his new memoir Ticking Clock: Behind the Scenes at 60 Minutes in an interview, former 60 Minutes producer Ira Rosen talked about Bannon’s attempt to remove DDT from the White House by using the 25th Amendment because of DDT’s early stage dementia. Bannon told DDT’s major rightwing donor Rebekah Mercer about his concerns, including DDT’s repetition of the same stories, and quoted a David Brooks column from October 2017:

“And the polls show that if you want to win a Republican primary these days, you have to embrace the Trump narrative…  The Republican senators greeted Trump on Capitol Hill and saw a president so repetitive and rambling, some thought he might be suffering from early Alzheimer’s. But they know which way the wind is blowing. They gave him a standing ovation.”

One sycophant couldn’t go to Mar-a-Lago. Rush Limbaugh died February 17, 2021, leaving 15 million listeners without his consistent diet of racial prejudice, misogyny, hate, and lies.

DDT also lost “my Kevin,” as he called House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), after McCarthy told people about his frantic January 6 telephone call for help when DDT refused to send assistance for congressional members under attack in the U.S. Capitol. McCarthy tried to cover up the problem, but DDT found him lacking in deferential attitude. Following that event, DDT lambasted McCarthy for not removing Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from House leadership because she voted for DDT’s impeachment. Fox reports DDT looks at McCarthy “with disdain.”

McCarthy tried to crawl back into DDT’s favor in late January at a trip to Mar-a-Lago after he agreed DDT “bears responsibility” for the riot. Aides reported the meeting was “good and cordial,” and McCarthy he does not “believe he provoked [the attack].” DDT, however, never forgives a slight.

Next weekend, DDT will collect the faithful at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando (FL). Usually located in Washington, CPAC chose the new venue because of its lax coronavirus guidelines producing its third-highest COVID-19 death toll last week. Sponsors include Fox, Washington Times, Epoch Times, Heritage Foundation, Turning Point USA, and conservative video platform Rumble. The senators typically voting against Biden’s appointees—Martha Blackburn (TN), Tom Cotton (AR), Ted Cruz (TX), Josh Hawley (MO), James Lankford (OK), and Rick Scott (FL)—will attend along with loyalist House members Mo Brooks (AL), Madison Cawthorn (NC), Matt Gaetz (FL), Jim Jordan (OH), Devin Nunes (CA), and Steve Scalise (LA). Deposed people such as former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former HUD Secretary Ben Carson, former Wisconsin governor Scott Walker, former DOJ AG Matt Whitaker, former DDT lawyer Pam Bondi, and former press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be there. It’s a place for the ambitious to aim at a better job, perhaps president, like South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.

One person missing from the event is former VP Mike Pence. Sources have said Pence will stay out of the public for the rest of the year after DDT looked willing to kill Pence at the January 6 insurrection. Pence’s former chief of staff Marc Short said he and Pence now accept Biden as “the duly elected president of the United States.” Although absent from DDT’s farewell, Pence attended Biden’s inauguration.

Others may not actually show up, and sponsors are insecure because of uncertain guest bookings. The theme “America Uncanceled” is about “cancel culture,” and organizers sent a letter to Politico accused it of this practice, a form of not providing support, after journalists asked questions about the event. Organizers whined about attempts to “cancel our votes, our voices, and our values” while trying to erase all non-white people in the U.S. DDT’s repetition about a rigged election in his CPAC speech as well as his smears of Biden’s actions will be an example of “cancel culture.”

Opposing DDT’s control of the GOP, House Minority Mitch McConnell (R-KY) ignores DDT, especially after McConnell’s vitriolic attack against DDT following McConnell’s vote against an impeachment conviction based on a mythical technicality. The speech scorched DDT about his faults, how he should have been convicted and how he can be criminally indicted. Three days later, DDT’s rebuttal rained lies and blistering attacks on the man who forced over 200 highly conservative and largely incompetent judges onto federal benches. A part of DDT’s statement:

“Mitch is a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack, and if Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again.”

Advisers talked DDT out of stating McConnell had too many chins and not enough smarts, according to one source.

Because a large QAnon following thinks DDT will be inaugurated on March 4, 2021, 5,000 National Guard troops will stay in Washington for at least another three weeks out of concern for violence. If that date doesn’t work out for them, QAnon followers picked May 20, 120 days after January 20 based on an economic recovery plan proposed over 20 years to forgive the national debt. Conspiracy theorists claim the military will take Biden from the White House on May 20 and install DDT in his former Washington home. Robert Guffey, who tracks the QAnon movement, explained more conspiracy beliefs:

“Then all the debt goes away and the IRS is abolished. And then, at that point, Trump starts releasing all these hidden patents for free energy. It’s going to be utopia and all the Democrats will be in Gitmo.”

Conservative media feeds these lies to the tens of millions of their audience:

  • The Biden’s marriage and romance is “part of a slick PR campaign devised by cynical consultants determined to hide the president’s senility by misdirection.”—Tucker Carlson, Fox
  • The Bidens 12-year-old German Shepherd, Champ, “needs a bath and a comb and all kinds of love and care. [He] looks like … from the junkyard.”—Greg Kelly, Newsmax
  • About cutting off the video of the insurrection at the Capitol during the impeachment trial: “This is all emotional, political theater.”—Greg Gutfeld, cohost of Fox The Five
  • “[There] was no physical evidence that George Floyd was murdered…  The autopsy showed that George Floyd almost certainly died of a drug overdose, fentanyl.”—Tucker Carlson, Fox
  • About fighting domestic terrorists: “They’re creating extremists, just as we did in Iraq… And dramatically elevating the chance that something really awful is going to happen.”—Tucker Carlson, Fox
  • “If the [COVID-19] vaccine was so great, why were all these people lying about it.”—Tucker Carlson, Fox (before Biden was inaugurated)
  • [I don’t know] a single conservative or single Republican who frankly even knows what QAnon.”—Sean Hannity, Fox

Much has been said from conservative leaders telling Democrats about “moving on,” but DDT will never let that happen as long as he stays the face and voice of the GQP.

Impeachment Day Five, Damning Revelations for DDT

The lawyers for Deposed Donald Trump (DDT) lasted under three hours in their weak attempts to defend their client during the second impeachment trial, using about 15 percent of their allotted 16 hours for their task. Part of their presentation was a video with extremely short clips of DDT saying “law and order” and Democrats using the term “fight” taken out of context, some of them played more than once. One defense lawyer, David Schoen, had criticized the videos for Democrats for the same thing although Democrats’ videos used much more context. The videos even had clips of people like Madonna, saying she’s “thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House” following Trump’s election. Michael van der Veen justified these clips by claiming his examples aren’t “whataboutism,” just an attempt to protect “all political speech.” Madonna had followed her statement with “I know that this won’t change anything,” not included in the defense’s clip.

Excusing the brevity of the defense, Bruce Castor told senators he hoped “you will take back these hours and use them to get delivery of COVID relief to the American people.” According to Bloomberg’s Steven Dennis, the reason for a short defense is that “they think they have the votes.”

The popular view assume Dennis is correct, but reports of an exchange between DDT and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), showing up one of the defense’s statements as a lie, led to consternation. Defense had argued DDT was upset about the attack on the U.S. Capitol and immediately tried to stop it. Details about a yelling match over the telephone during the insurrection belies that myth.

When no help came for the Capitol Police after DDT’s supporters breached the building, the desperate McCarthy called DDT for assistance. At first, DDT said the mob was composed of far-left antifa members, but McCarthy told him the thugs were MAGA people and pleaded with him to call them off. According to McCarthy, DDT answered:

“Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are.”

Furious with DDT’s response, McCarthy shouted that rioters were breaking breaking into his office through the windows and demanded, “Who the f–k do you think you are talking to?” Republicans who reported the event said the interaction proves DDT wasn’t going to stop the rioters, and some called it a dereliction of duty. One of them said, “He is not a blameless observer, he was rooting for them.” Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA) first described the telephone call in a town hall earlier this week.

The defense lawyer also lied when he said DDT didn’t know VP Mike Pence was in danger of the mob attack when he attacked Pence with tweets. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), a strong DDT supporter, verified he told DDT about Pence’s being rushed from the mob before DDT’s tweets damning Pence. A source near Pence also declared DDT’s legal team lied when lawyer Michael van der Veen said “at no point” did “the 45th president” know his vice president was in danger. DDT not only didn’t check on Pence during the attack, but he also didn’t contact him for the next five days after the insurrection.

The U.S. people were also at danger when Pence was almost captured. He was carrying the “football,” the black briefcase with nuclear launch codes and encrypted communications equipment, when the mob was fewer than 90 feet away from him. Although capturing it might not have allowed a launch, showing it off would result in chaos and panic as well as giving adversaries knowledge about ways in which the U.S. would respond to a major attack.

Evidence was another area about which DDT’s legal team lied. In DDT’s defense, Schoen tried to use the new footage of the insurrection presented by the House prosecution as a violation of due process with the lie that the defense had not seen it. The prosecution, however, reported, “Every piece of evidence, including new videos, were given to the defense team before the trial.”

Thursday night, Schoen tried to quit DDT’s legal team, but he remained after DDT begged him to stay. Even on Friday morning as the team was scheduled to begin, the team of three lawyers argued about the order of presentations. Eventually, van der Veen led off because Bruce Castor was a disaster in his earlier presentation. Earlier on Thursday, Schoen skipped the House managers’ prosecution to appear on the Fox network, per DDT’s direction to defend him on television.

One defense lawyer wouldn’t even say whether Joe Biden was elected president. In other lies, the defense team:

Skipped all mention of DDT’s defending violence: “Contrast the President’s repeated condemnations of violence with the rhetoric from his opponents.”—Michael van der Veen. Examples of DDT lauding violence: praised a Montana congressional candidate for assaulting a journalist; urged police not to protect suspects’ heads during arrests; expressed wish to punch protester in the face; told supporters to “knock the crap out of” protesters holding tomatoes; covered for a kidnapping plot against Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer; approved a false story about a general massacring Muslim terrorists with bullets dipped in the blood of pigs; used the term “beautiful sight” for authorities throwing a journalist to the ground during Minneapolis protest; mocked a reporter shot with a rubber bullet; and cheered his supporters surrounding a Joe Biden campaign bus on the highway and trying to run a following car off the road.

Claimed DDT’s first two tweets during the Capitol attack urged calm: Two later tweets followed DDT’s calling Pence a coward for not protecting “out Country and our Constitution” after the vice president was in danger from DDT’s mob.

Accused Democrats and media of “repeating without any evidence that the 2016 election had been hacked” for four years: Evidence shows the DNC and the Hillary Clinton campaign were hacked by the Russian government stealing and leaking internal documents and emails, but the entire party and media didn’t push the information for four years.

Asserted rioters didn’t attend DDT’s January 6 incendiary rally because the assault was pre-planned: Rioters who broke into the Capitol started at the rally, and many others heard the speech on their phones. Most of the over 215 criminal cases on arrested insurrectionists show they did not intend to break into the Capitol when they arrived on January 6 until they attended the rally.

Repeated the lie that Georgia saw a “dramatic drop” in ballot rejection rates: The lawyer argued that DDT’s mandate to the state’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find” another 11,780 votes was to lower the rejection rates. Georgia had no “dramatic drop,” according to data, but instead had an increase in proportion to the additional votes, keeping the percentage the same.

Claimed trial violated due process: Due process doesn’t apply to an impeachment inquiry because it is a political process, not a criminal case. The constitution also fails to prescribe a procedures of impeachment proceedings.

Denied the January 6 attack was an insurrection because it didn’t meet the legal definition: Definition – “the act or an instance of revolting, esp. violently against civil or political authority or against an established government ;also the crime of inciting or engaging in such revolt [whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or against the authority of the United States.” It fits.

Maintained January 6 was evitable, no matter what DDT said or did: DDT has been feeding his supporters lies about a stolen election for several months and, at the same time, calling his supporters to take action to make him president.

Declared DDT’s limitless right to free speech: The team cited Wood v. Georgia and Bond v. Floyd for its claim, but their decisions are narrow.  Wood’s ruling stated officials can freely speak about grand jury proceedings unless it threatens the proceedings, and Bond is about if a politician can be prevented from taking the elected office because of statements about government policy.

Lectured about prosecution missing facts while abusing facts: Falsehoods – one of the first arrested people after January 6 was a leader of antifa, which has no leader, although the person suspiciously subscribes to a number of political movements; and a conviction would negate 75 million votes and “cancel” DDT’s voters although DDT got only 74.2 votes.

While complaining about the impeachment trial process not being constitutional, Bruce Castor threatened GOP senators with primary challengers if they voted to convict DDT.

Spin from the legal team was at times ridiculous. The House managers referenced the tweet from a DDT supporter, “Calvary is coming,” as misspelling “cavalry.” Schoen argued the tweeter meant “Calvary Hill” where Jesus was crucified. He explained:

“The tweeter promised to bring the calvary—a public display of Christ’s crucifixion, a central symbol of her Christian faith—with her to the president’s speech—a symbol of faith, love and peace.”

The basic defense argument, however, that Democrats sole purpose in the impeachment trial is “hate” for DDT, and lawyers scolded lawmakers, saying “Hate has no place in the American justice system.” It is their fallback position in a case with no merit. The defense team only wants to give GOP senators an excuse to exonerate the man who pulls their strings.

Week 205: DDT Belatedly Signs Bill, Other Catch-Ups

When I heard that Dictator Donald Trump (DDT) had signed the stimulus bill to keep millions of people temporarily out of poverty, all I could think was “what a piece of garbage.” He didn’t demand $2,000 checks because he cared about people. If he was sincere, he would have told sycophant Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin to do it. Instead, he waited until Mnuchin and Congress to finish the bill before he had his tantrums. Mnuchin declared the approved bill “fabulous,” but DDT wanted attention. He got it by ruining his beloved “Christmas” (remember when he said Joe Biden would take away Christmas?!) for tens of millions of people who suffer from his mismanagement of the pandemic. If DDT had led the United States into health last March, hundreds of thousands of people in the nation wouldn’t have died, and hundreds of millions of others wouldn’t be living a life of deprivation and insecurity.

Stalling on the signing for several days, DDT still created more permanent misery. Twelve million people will get unemployment benefits for another 11 weeks, but those in the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation programs for gig workers won’t get a payment for the final week of the year because DDT signed it Sunday instead of Saturday. In addition, the $300 federal enhancement may last only 10 weeks instead of 11. DDT pompously said he’d sign the bill but wanted Senate to increase stimulus checks to $2,000 with no congressional commitment. Republicans in the House have consistently turned down that amount. Info about the stimulus relief bill.

Follow-up on DDT’s and AG Bill Barr’s executions from internal documents

  • Public explanations for the picks of executed prisoners misstated key facts from the cases.
  • One of the claims falsified the executed man “murdered … an 8-year-old girl.” He refused to kill her so the co-defendant, who received a life sentence instead of the death penalty, murdered the girl.
  • The claim about the execution being for “the victims and families” was a lie: family members objected to one of the executions.
  • The claim that the first ten executions were of the oldest inmates sentenced to death is false.
  • The Justice Department didn’t review the prisoners’ physical or mental health before the execution: one had an IQ between 70 and 75, and the other suffered from schizophrenia, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Executions were done in the middle of the night.
  • One prisoner was strapped to the gurney with an IV to kill him while lawyers worked to remove a court order.
  • Another prisoner was executed during a pending appeal.
  • Executioners bought drugs from a secret pharmacy failing a quality test, drugs officials knew might not face a court scrutiny.
  • An “expert” witness hired to testify the drug is humane is not a physician or licensed care provider; he is a professor of chemistry and pharmacology at Vanderbilt University. The second witness is a retired California anesthesiologist.
  • An execution took 28 minutes for the man to die while he gasped for breath.
  • The government hired private executioners and paid them in cash.
  • Barr was the final authority for buying drugs and issuing public information, but he didn’t act alone.

More about DDT and Barr’s executions.

Late last night, I posted a piece about Democratic socialism. This morning I read my partner’s Facebook page on the same subject. I was amazed because we had not talked about the subject. Hers is much better than mine—see below.

“Democratic socialism is not socialism. Nor is it a political party. Democratic socialism protects our democracy by aiding capitalism and socialism to work together sharing in the welfare of the people.

“Government serves and protects, and privately owned business supports. Putting it bluntly, Democratic socialism is the fire department saving your house. Capitalism is the insurance company denying your claim. Democratic socialism collects taxes and returns our taxes back to us in services and protection such as building the infrastructure, Social Security, Medicare, police, fire, military, education—meaning all people collectively and equally reap the benefits. Capitalism produces the world in which we live, based upon supply and demand which, in turn, determines profit and loss for owners and stockholders in the privately owned sector.

“Both government and businesses provide the money for wages that, in turn, pay the taxes to the government and buy products from business. Working together. This was so successful during the middle part of last century that education became widely accessible, houses easy to buy, and the middle-class workers took home the greatest share of the wealth than ever before. Life was good. Too much vanilla but still good.

“Until Reagan. Again, bluntly put, under laissez-faire policies (no restrictions or limits) capitalism got greedy. Until Reagan, for every service or product capitalists provided to the government such as uniforms for the army, our government put a cap on what it would pay. Obviously limiting profits does not make any capitalist heart sing. And god knows how businesses love to raise prices any way they can.

“It was the rising oil prices that gave Reaganites a reason to attack government price limits. Along with the biggest cut in history for the rich, causing “stagflation” for the first time (rapid inflation and high unemployment), resulted in “trickle-down economy” which we now know does not work. Add destroying unions, and the removal of many price limits, especially military, in the Tax Reform Act, the stage was set for business takeover. Tragically for a stable economy, every time we got a tax cut Reagan Stagflation became the new norm.”

Thanks, Sue!

A few pieces from the past week or two. Only 23 days until Dictator Donald Trump (DDT) leaves the White House—one way or another, and the confusion is already in full swing. The White House emailed its employees to begin departing the premises on January 5, but two days later the White House Management Office emailed staff to disregard earlier message. “Updated information will be shared in the coming days.” Nothing since then.

Last Monday, more information about the cyber espionage reveals emails from Treasury Department senior officials have been hacked although Secretary Steve Mnuchin declares no classified information has been breached. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) said no one knows the damage caused. Mnuchin said, “I can assure you, we are completely on top of this” but didn’t explain how no one detected the Russian presence in the system for over four months. Although Barr and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo agree on Russia as the hacking source, no public declaration has been announced. The Dow Jones market went down 200 points that day, and the subject largely disappeared from the media. Background of this espionage.

After six months, the White House coronavirus task force no longer sends weekly state reports with data and recommendations unless states request them. There was no explanation for the change. In the December 20 reports, Tennessee had the largest COVID-19 cases per capita, and Oklahoma has the highest test positivity rate. South Dakota has the most deaths per capita. Like nine other states, none of these three states has a mandate to wear masks.

Only 1.94 million shots of the Pfizer vaccine were administered as of December 26 while about 9 million doses from Pfizer and Moderna sit in U.S. hospitals and elsewhere. DDT’s promise of 20 million vaccinations before the end of the year also carried little funding. The lag may come from the process of preparing the frozen shots, finding employees for vaccinating, and guaranteeing social distancing before and after vaccinations. Johnson & Johnson’s one-shot vaccine, using an ordinary refrigerator and no need to specialized procedures to administer, may be available in February.

Two two major op-eds from the conservative Wall Street Journal in 2020 typify the misrepresentations and betrayals from DDT’s administration. In June, VP Mike Pence, head of the White House coronavirus task force, promised people that COVID-19 would have no “second wave,” that “such panic is overblown.” With fawning accolades for DDT’s fantastic leadership, he wrote about the containment of new outbreaks and “stabilized” cases. “We’ve saved lives,” he wrote. “That’s a cause for celebration, not the media’s fear mongering.” At that time, the U.S. passed 115,000 COVID-related deaths with about 750 deaths per day in the U.S. A little over six months later, the “stabilized” nation has almost tripled the number of deaths at 341,138 while the number of infections is over eight times the approximately 2,300,000 in mid-June.

A claim from Mick Mulvaney, sometimes CIA director or chief of staff or director of the Office of Management and Budget or special envoy to North Ireland under DDT, is a colossal joke. Instead of DDT being willing to “concede gracefully,” as Mulvaney promised four days after the election, DDT’s hateful claims and court cases about non-existent election fraud has infused the nation with hatred and violence for months to the extent of using martial law enforcing new elections. We’re still waiting for even “concede” almost eight weeks after the election, let alone “gracefully.”

GOP Sabotages Stimulus Bill, Economy

The United States is on the verge of another government shutdown, almost two years after the last one created by Dictator Donald Trump (DDT) and his GOP minions. This one comes from the attachment of a stimulus bill to the budget which expires today, December 18. The general election slowed down any stimulus bill because Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) wants to destroy the economy for a Democratic president. He found no value in austerity when the GOP gave trillions of dollars to the wealthy and big business in the 2017 tax cuts and earlier this year with the CARES law giving billions more to big business. The hope last fall was that DDT’s name on another set of $1,200 checks for most people in the U.S. would make him—and other Republicans—reelected in the fall. There was no bill: Republicans came out of the general election better than expected, but DDT lost, much to the denial of his supporters.

McConnell’s decision was to vastly shrink the amount of the current stimulus bill to under $1 trillion while blowing up the amount by using money from the CARES law. He blocked the stimulus bill by refusing to send any money to local and state governments, in serious shape from the pandemic, and demanding big business have no liability for endangering their workers, even when they sit around and make bets about how many of their employees will die.

To further jeopardize the stimulus bill and the economy, the GOP tacked on another demand today, ending emergency lending programs for small and medium-sized businesses authorized by the CARES Act. The CARES Act states the programs don’t expire until 2026 unless Congress changes the law.  Language from Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), who doesn’t plan to run for reelection in two years, blocks all money in the Treasury’s rainy day fund, even funds not from CARES, from use in similar future programs to respond to a financial crisis. Of nine programs needing to be renewed at the end of 2020, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin wants to scuttle five of them. Toomey wants to prevent any future Treasury secretary of either party from ever providing assistance for both small businesses and non-federal governments.

“My goal … is always to get as right-of-center an outcome as possible,” McConnell said when questioned about a crisis, specifically a government shutdown. His one goal is to stay in power, and he’ll do anything to keep the job. He admitted the only reason he might send out smaller stimulus checks is to reelect the two Georgia incumbent senators, who McConnell says are being “hammered” by the stimulus check issue, but he wants the amount small to depress the economy.  McConnell appears to be a DDT loyalist, but his admission about Biden being president-elect shows he will dump DDT when necessary. It’s not that he wants Biden; he just wants his Republicans to not look foolish so they will get reelected.

DDT wants stimulus checks to be up to $2,000, but White House staffers talked him out of the idea. Keeping the stimulus checks low will guarantee a struggling economy when Biden takes over as president and keep McConnell semi-satisfied. Under DDT and McConnell, poverty jumped 2.4 percent in the past five months, the highest annual increase since the 1960s. The shift from 9.3 percent in June to 11.7 percent in November added 7.8 million to the poor while people with a high school education or less—DDT’s supporters—faced a 5.1 increase in unemployment. McConnell figures these people will keep voting for Republicans because they get their falsehoods from conservative media.

To avoid a weekend shutdown today, the House passed a two-day Continuing Resolution to the budget by 360-60 which passed the Senate with a voice vote. Congress has until midnight on Sunday to pass a real budget and a real stimulus bill if DDT passes the C.R

Another Christmas Grinch, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), has twice blocked the stimulus bill. Johnson said:

“I’m not heartless. I want to help people. I voted to help people.”

A favorite Johnson strategy is accusing others of lying while he tells his own falsehoods. During Johnson’s committee hearing earlier this week  focusing on conspiracy theories about evidence-free election fraud, he blew up at Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI), accusing Peters of having “lied repeatedly in the press that I was spreading Russian disinformation.” In the past, Johnson did exactly that about Hunter Biden, the son of the president-elect, in a ploy to get votes for DDT. In the midst of the budget and COVID-19 crisis, Johnson devoted three hours to pushing election fraud lies with three witnesses totally lacking credibility. Peters responded:

“This is not about airing your grievances. I don’t know what rabbit hole you’re running down. This is terrible what you’re doing to this committee… Whether intended or not, this hearing gives a platform to conspiracy theories and lies. It is a destructive exercise that has no place in the United States Senate.”

Some of the falsehoods from Johnson’s witnesses were already rejected in tens of courts; others had no basis. With no evidence, Johnson kept claiming fraud had occurred although the one expert witness maintained it did not. The only reliable witness, Chris Krebs, knew the election had no widespread fraud: he was the leader of the DHS cyber security agency until DDT fired him a few days after losing because Krebs wouldn’t say he found fraud. At the hearing, Krebs talked about how the lies about election fraud were worsening the climate of threats against elections workers, causing a “chilling effect” in future elections. Peters said some threats against Krebs were so serious that they had “to make some arrangements for your security to be here today to testify in person.”

Two days after Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) supported Johnson’s view of election fraud, that the 2020 election was “stolen” from DDT, he objected to people voting in the Georgia election for two U.S. senators on January 5. He believes Republicans need to block a large voter turnout because it helps Democrats. Paul said:

“They’re mailing out a solicitation to vote by mail. This is not in the state law. I’m very, very concerned that if you solicit votes from typically non-voters, that you will affect and change the outcome. So I’m very worried that the Democrats will control all three branches of government.”

Conservatives control the third “branch of government”—the Supreme Court—because DDT controlled the executive and legislative branches during his first two years in the Oval Office. Paul announced Republicans can have a majority of the legislative branch only if a segment of eligible voters, especially Blacks, are disenfranchised. Paul may formally reject the electoral votes during the January 6 joint session of Congress.

The U.S. Army is refusing to follow Michael Flynn’s request for a declaration of martial law to force reelections in battleground states where DDT lost. On Newsmax, Flynn said:

“[DDT could] order the—within the swing states, if he wanted to—he could take military capabilities, and he could place those in states and basically re-run an election in each of those states.”

The response from Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy and Army Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville:

“There is no role for the U.S. military in determining the outcome of an American election.”

Despite Flynn’s claim that “it’s not unprecedented,” there is no record of a U.S. president declaring martial law for a new election. Flynn, a QAnon member, secretly worked with Russia after DDT’s election and before his inauguration to subvert President Obama. His business was also paid to secretly encourage the extradition back to Turkey of a longtime Turkish dissident living in Pennsylvania for 20 years. DDT gave Flynn the same pardon President Gerald Ford gave Richard Nixon, absolving Flynn of “any and all possible offenses” arising from Mueller’s investigation, any related grand jury proceedings, and all charges based on “facts and circumstances, known to, identified by, or in any manner related to the investigation of the Special Counsel.”

In the past week, Steve Schmidt, formerly John McCain’s campaign manager, shifted his voter registration to Democrat, because of DDT’s and the GOP behavior:

“It was a joke in a lot of ways, but it was a coup. It was a failed coup. And the way you get to a second coup in most countries is by having your first unsuccessful one.”

Schmidt described the Democratic Party as the only one that “stands for the ideas and ideals of American liberty.” He declared, “I’m a single-issue voter now. I believe in democracy.”

December 18: daily U.S. cases – 254,680; deaths – 2,794. Thirty-three more days to go.

Biden v. DDT = Progress v. Desperation

While Dictator Donald Trump (DDT) stays in furious deep denial, President-elect Joe Biden forges ahead with his choices. His most recent appointment, California’s AG Xavier Becerra for HHS Secretary, came as a surprise: New Mexico’s Gov. Michelle Luján Grisham had hoped to be HHS Secretary and supposedly rejected the offer of Interior Secretary. Becerra had filed 100 lawsuits against DDT by last September, but he also joined Republicans for better health.

In other decisions, Biden picked others on his health team:

CDC director: Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the chief of infectious diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital, who will replace Robert Redfield.

U.S. surgeon general: Dr. Vivek Murthy, surgeon general for President Barack Obama. Murthy gained disfavor with Republicans because he declared gun violence is a public health problem.

COVID-19 coordinator (aka “czar”): Jeffrey D. Zients, who fixed President Obama’s problematic rollout of the ACA insurance marketplace. The job involves an increase in testing, mobilization of economic aid, and the vaccine distribution.

Focusing on Health Disparities: Marcella Nunez-Smith, an expert on healthcare inequalities.

Earlier, U.S. officials promised to distribute 300 million doses of vaccine in December, treatment for 150 million people, but the number was dropped by 90 percent because of manufacturing issues and bottlenecks in obtaining raw materials. One company had batch failures. DDT’s leader of “Operation Warp Speed,” Moncef Slaoui, had said last May he was sure “several hundred million” doses of vaccine would be ready by the end of this month. The November 9 news release about Pfizer vaccine buried the information about far fewer available doses.

The quantity of the vaccine may have been public information, but Biden reported a lack of “detail” in distributing the vaccine to the public. He said DDT’s administration shared information, but “there is no detailed plan that we’ve seen, anyway, as to how you get the vaccine out of a container, into an injection syringe, into somebody’s arm.” Biden added that the process would be extremely expensive but won’t say whether Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) would talk to him. Sunday morning, HHS Secretary Alex Azar claimed Biden’s criticism is just “nonsense,” that they have “comprehensive plans.” Legally, he’s required to share them with Biden—if he has them.

Slaoui still has conflicts of interest from his investments in the vaccine. DDT hired Slaoui as a “contractor” so he doesn’t need to follow ethics rules. Slaoui claims he has “a personal compass in ethics.” Although he sold his Moderna stock, he still has shares in Lonza Group, a company contracting with Moderna. Other Operation Warp Speed advisers—William Erhardt, Rachel Harrigan and Carlo de Notaristefani—have potential conflicts of interests despite HHS’ claims to the contrary. All three have holdings in companies involved on coronavirus vaccines, treatments, and tests including Pfizer, Thermo Fisher Scientific, PhaseBio Pharmaceuticals, Incyte Pharmaceuticals, and Teva Pharmaceuticals.

Public pressure may have pushed the Pentagon into complying with the law. A senior defense official said members of Biden’s team will receive briefings from the Pentagon intelligence agencies on Monday after continued refusal. The Defense Department is still blaming the transition team for the delay, but Kash Patel, DDT’s Pentagon chief of staff for under four weeks, is rewriting policy descriptions to make DDT look good before he shares them with Biden’s transition team. Patel also “told everybody we’re not going to cooperate with the transition team,” according to an official and will be “controlling the information flow.”

The Pentagon has stalled for two weeks, and the GSA had stalled for the previous two weeks. Patel is blaming the recently appointed transition leader, Tom Muir, but he’s still responsible for restricting information about time-sensitive policies for Iran, Afghanistan, and North Korea. In the past, career officials were in charge of communications with presidents-elect.

The Pentagon may be providing transition information to Biden as president-elect, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch  McConnell (R-KY) is one of the 222 congressional members—88 percent—who won’t admit Biden was elected as president. Two, GOP Reps. Paul A. Gosar (AZ) and Mo Brooks (AL), actually believe DDT won. DDT expressed surprise so many Republicans thought DDT lost and demanded their names. McConnell’s pithy statement:

“The future will take care of itself.”

Asked how he will combat Biden’s executive orders, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said:

“Let’s wait until [we see] who’s sworn in, and we can discuss that.”

DeAnna Lorraine, a former GOP congressional candidate in California, tweeted a question:

“Does anyone else find it odd that no prominent Democrats have had the virus but the list of Republicans goes on and on?”

DDT’s chief lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has been added to the “list of Republicans” with the virus after spending the last month going across the country to participate in lawsuits on behalf of DDT’s fruitless attempt to stay in the Oval Office. Just last week, he was at a hearing in the Michigan House of Representatives arguing his case and in a Georgia Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. He almost never wore a mask during his journeys. His son Andrew tested positive on November 20. Rudy Giuliani, 76, is now hospitalized.

The answer to Ms. Lorraine—no, it isn’t “odd” so many Republicans test positive for COVID-19. They don’t take precautions. For example, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has invited 900 people to a party with no mask mandate.

Opening the DACA program to about 1 million undocumented immigrant teens brought to the U.S. by their parents, a federal judge ordered it completely reinstated and told DHS to publish a notice that it is accepting new applicants—immediately. DDT stopped accepting new applicants in 2017 and dropped the two-year work permits to one year last summer. The judge also mandated the return to two years because Chad Wolf’s appointment to acting director violated the qualifications for the position. Last fall, the Supreme Court ruled DHS couldn’t end DACA because the department couldn’t explain why it ended the program. DDT disobeyed the court and reduced the program. A new court may support DDT’s position because Amy Coney Barrett, assigned to Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat, may vote against DACA.

The chain of command:

  1. DHS Secretary:
  2. Deputy secretary.
  3. Under Secretary for Management.
  4. Administrator of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
  5. Director of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
  6. Undersecretary for science and technology.
  7. Undersecretary for intelligence and analysis.
  8. Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection.
  9. Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Because people in the first four positions had no Senate confirmations, Chris Krebs, former CISA director, should have been the acting Secretary instead of Wolf. When DDT fired Krebs last month, David Pekoske, TSA administrator is the most senior member with the top eight lacking Senate-confirmed appointments. The would make him the highest person for acting DHS Secretary.

This fiasco demonstrates a major problem for Biden after January 20: filling vacancies. Acting appointees must come from people in a Senate-confirmed position or a senior civil “officer or employee” in the same agency and can serve for only 210 days, according to the 1998 law DDT frequently ignored. If Republicans take the Senate and McConnell drags his heels, Biden could have great difficulty finding even acting personnel. In addition, most of Senate-confirmed positions are DDT’s appointments.

Last week, a judge overruled two DDT rules curtailing the annual number of issued visas to skilled foreign workers. DDT had restricted the H-1B visa program by imposing salary requirements on employing companies and creating limits on specialty occupations. The opinion criticized the lack of transparency procedures and the false use of the pandemic for an idea he had proposed earlier. California universities sued because of inadequate notice. Up to 85,000+ H1-B annual visas for technology, engineering, and medicine applicable for three years and renewable were seriously cut back.

Amid all the lies DDT told at his Georgia rally Saturday night, he may have tacitly admitted he lost the election. He initially said, “I won” but moved on with this comment:

“They say that if you win Florida and if you win Ohio, in history you’ve never lost an election. This has got to be a first time.”

DDT is going out the same way he came in—with a racist conspiracy theory. In 2011, he began with his “birther” position—that President Obama was born in Kenya instead of Hawaii—and continued the claim throughout his campaign until September before the 2016 election. Saturday night he referred to the South African myth about Blacks taking white farms in the country. He lied that Black Democrats were going to steal the white Georgia land and “privately owned firearms. He also said he read activist Stacey Abrams “accumulated 850,000 ballots,” again opposing mail-in voting with his toxic falsehoods.

The desperate hate-filled lies continue.

DDT, GOP Lie about the COVID-19 Surge, Voting Rights

Dictator Donald Trump (DDT) is crossing the nation, spreading COVID-19 among his campaign rallies and telling his audiences COVID-19 is “rounding the turn” and no longer a problem. He says any cases come from all the testing.

The “turn” evidently means far more coronavirus cases. In many regions—the Upper Midwest, the Mountain West, the Southwest, and the heart of Appalachia—hospitals have record levels of people infected by coronavirus. Over 42,000 people were hospitalized in the U.S. just yesterday, a number nearing the midsummer peak. The result is a nightmare on the horizon–triaging patients to pick which ones will get care and putting younger ones over the older. The 83,000+ cases of last Saturday, a single-day record, set up the motion the COVID-19 pattern: spiking diagnoses, hospitalizations, and then deaths.

Johns Hopkins University has reported increases of 20 percent in new cases, 13 percent in hospitalizations, and 11 percent in daily death. Nineteen states announced more cases in the past seven days than any other seven-day period of the epidemic, and dozens of states have a seven-day average of over 100 new daily cases per 100,000 people with over 700 per 100,000 in North Dakota, five times the U.S. average. El Paso (TX) hit 100-percent hospital capacity Sunday and moved patients to field hospitals. Tulsa (OK) said the soaring number of hospitalizations “is not sustainable.” North Dakota has only 25 ICU staffed beds remaining in the entire state.

North and South Dakota are the poster states of bad leadership and dramatic surges of COVID-19. Earlier, they bragged about having no problem. North and South Dakota report the highest and second-highest rates of hospitalizations and deaths. South Dakota is second only to North Dakota in the number of virus cases per 100,000 people for all 50 states while North Dakota reduced testing by 2 percent. In South Dakota, the testing average rose by 11 percent, but cases increased by 20 percent over the previous week. South Dakota’s tests have 40 percent positives.

South Dakota’s Gov. Kristi Noem started big outbreaks by forcing infected people to continue working in the state’s meat processing plants, and she thinks the state still has no problems.  Last week she wrote in an op-ed, “Our trust in the data and in each other has been rewarded.” The “data” shows South Dakota reported over 1,100 new cases, 95 cases per 100,000 and a single-day record after the record of 973 the day before. Of the ten hottest spots for coronavirus in the nation, six are South Dakota cities. Nearly half the 3,138 inmates in South Dakota’s prison system tested positive as of Monday. About masks, Noem wrote that people should make “informed decisions” about wearing them because people “question” their effectiveness. The state has no limit at gatherings; last summer’s Sturgis biker event drew almost one-half million people who spread the virus to thousands of people throughout the nation. DDT held another superspreader event at Mt. Rushmore on July 3. Noem sounds like DDT and wants his position in four years: she’s traveled to at least 11 other states as a DDT surrogate for his campaign.

Noem is wrong: masks do work. Last summer after a stay-at-home order expired, Arizona’s COVID-19 daily cases spiked 151 percent for weeks, putting the state with more capita numbers than almost all countries in the world. After the governor lifted his ban on local mask mandates, the number of cases dropped 75 percent later in the summer. Loosening of safety measures, however, are causing another spike in the number of the states’ cases and hospitalizations, matching the June spike. Numbers could be even worse because Arizona includes only electronically-reported test results. By October 28, Arizona almost doubled the number of counties with moderate levels of community transmission (26 percent to 37 percent of counties) and high levels of community transmission, 7 percent to 13 percent. According to an estimate, 7,405 lives would have been saved with a universal mask mandate. With a mask mandate for over five months, Oregon has over five times lower death rate.

A University of Kansas study of counties in the states with and without mask mandates also discovered orders to wear face masks cuts back on the number of COVID-19 cases. The 21 counties adopting rules of wearing masks and distancing six feet from others reported an average of seven fewer cases per 100,000 compared to the spike of up to 40 average daily cases per 100,000 in the other 80 counties. The report concluded a saving of 130,000 lives of the predicted 510,000 deaths in the next four months if 95 percent followed these guidelines.

In his campaign rallies, DDT urges his audience to ignore the surging number of cases. Like a tsunami, each COVID-19 wave is higher than the last one. The first wave reached 9.7 cases per 100,000 on April 7 and dropped before increasing to 20.5 cases per 100,000 on July 19. The latest one rose to 23 cases per 100,000 on October 24 and may not have stopped. DDT’s chief of staff Mark Meadows said the White House planned to do nothing to stop the cases, the hospitalizations, and the deaths.

DDT actually has a few plans. After he gave farmers $46 billion in welfare to cover his disastrous tariffs, he is in federal court to stop emergency food stamps to 700,000 people during the virus crisis. He has already kept $480 million out of Pennsylvania, a state with extraordinarily high unemployment and a swing state DDT wants to win. The emergency funding is $2 per meal for a person. A federal judge has accused the USDA of “egregious disobedience” for not following congressional mandates. With no backup plan, DDT also wants to rid the country of the Affordable Healthcare Act, leaving tens of millions of people without health insurance. In another idea, DDT said he wants to make reporting about the coronavirus illegal. It “should be an election law violation,” he ranted.

Republicans and conservative judges are trying to infect more people by forcing them to the polls. Virus cases are rising in Texas again, but people fearful of infection who want to avoid exposure cannot cast ballots by mail because of GOP restrictions. The governor, Greg Abbott, has shot down every plan to make voting safer and more accessible. Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee are going along with strict restrictions on absentee ballots. All states also have strict voter ID requirements, and Mississippi limited early in-person voting. Anyone not working for an elections office in Tennessee and handing someone an application for absentee voting faces one to six years in prison. These conditions discriminate against less privileged groups such as people of color and those made vulnerable by medical conditions. Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas have some of the country’s highest rates of poverty and chronic health conditions.

One recent cheery piece of news comes from a federal judge order for South Carolina counties to stop rejecting absentee ballots over mismatched signatures and a review of ballots eliminated for that reason. County election boards wanting to have that procedure must get court approval and give voters the chance to correct any mismatches. Ten of the state’s 46 counties, some of them highly populated, were using “signature matching.”

Voter suppression, however, seems to be failing. A week before Election Day, the number of early voters equals about half the total number of people voting in November 2016. Even in restrictive Texas, almost half the registered voters have submitted ballots a week before Election Day, exceeding last year’s complete early votes by over three million and almost equaling the entire number of votes cast in Texas four years ago.

An outstanding occurrence in the current election comes from the large number of young people voting. Both parties have long said that more voters, especially young ones, benefit the Democrat party. For that reason, Republicans have tried to suppress the vote for decades.

As DDT travels the country negating the disaster he has caused by mismanaging the COVID-19 crisis, health officials and scientists on DDT’s coronavirus task force are offended by the announcement from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy that DDT has successfully ended the pandemic. The group called the lying statement to be one of DDT’s major first term accomplishments. The lie explains it “has taken decisive actions to engage scientists and health professionals in academia, industry, and government to understand, treat, and defeat the disease.” In the conservative Hill, Nathaniel Weixel writes:

“The rosy outlook flies in the face of reality, and underscores the efforts of Trump to continuously try to downplay the severity of the pandemic that continues to rage nearly uncontrolled across the country.”

On October 27, one week before the election, COVID-19 shows no sign of abating in the U.S. Total cases: 9,038,030. New cases during last 24 hours: 75,072. Total deaths: 232,084. Deaths during last 24 hours: 1,039. With under five percent of the world’s population, the U.S. has provided planet with over 20 percent of cases and deaths from coronavirus.

Town Halls: Same Time, Different Locations

Why did Dictator Donald Trump (DDT) schedule his own town hall on a separate network at exactly the same time as his opponent Joe Biden? It started when DDT refused to do attend the scheduled town hall if it were  virtual. Biden asked to be separated from DDT for the second co-debate because DDT was likely contagious for the first one. He has refused to say whether he had a COVID-19 test on the day of the first debate although both campaigns agreed both candidates would be tested before the event.

DDT also said NBC came to him to do the event, but the media gives the impression DDT has asked for the exposure because he can no longer afford enough advertising. NBC should be lambasted for scheduling the town hall at the same time as Bidens whoever asked for it. The network barely saved its reputation with moderator Savannah Guthrie’s sharp questions showed DDT to be the black hole of truth. His lies, many of them from Fox and the Russians, were typically accompanied by justifications such as “people say” and “I read it someplace” and “That’s what I’ve heard.” His tacit promotion of “herd immunity,” pushing people to contract COVID-19, was demonstrated in supporting the QAnon conspiracy theory about wearing masks causing the virus. Even DDT’s friend, former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, told people to wear masks he likely contracted coronavirus from DDT and spent seven days seriously ill in the hospital.

In his first debate with Biden, DDT wouldn’t disavow his support for white supremacy; in the town hall he’s moved on to endorse the outrageously fake conspiracies of QAnon, the group believing the liberal leadership is involved in a satanic pedophilia ring. DDT’s excuse? “They are very much against pedophilia.” Guthrie pointed out DDT retweeted a QAnon conspiracy theory about Biden’s role in having the SEAL Team 6 killed because they didn’t kill Osama Bin Laden. The former Navy Seal killing bin Laden wrote the QAnon tweet, retweeted by DDT, is a lie. This exchange at the town hall:

Guthrie: “Now, why would you send a lie like that to your followers?”

DDT: “I know nothing about that.”

Guthrie: “You retweeted it!”

DDT: “That was an opinion of somebody… People can decide for themselves.”

Guthrie: “You’re the president! You’re not, like, someone’s crazy uncle who can retweet whatever.” [The “crazy uncle” meme has gone viral.)

QAnon also falsely accused President Obama of giving Iran $152 billion to cover up the fake death of bin Laden. That sum frequently appears in radical right writing because part of the Iran agreement was to permit Iran to regain the money already belonging to them. The U.S. Treasury Department reported the amount was actually about $50 billion. The U.S. was also forced by a court to give Iran $1.7 billion after Iran paid the U.S. for military equipment that was never delivered.

Furious about being asked about QAnon, DDT wanted to know why she wasn’t asking Biden about why he doesn’t “condemn antifa.” She responded, “Because you’re here,” and he muttered, “So cute.” Two days before the town hall, DDT begged suburban women, “Will you please like me?” His poor treatment of Guthrie won’t get him women’s votes.

DDT, who still refuses to release any financial records including his tax returns, claimed the $421 million he owes is “a peanut” compared to his vast wealth. Others more in the know disagree. Forbes estimates his total debt at over $1 billion to several lending sources. (Details here.) When he tried his old lie of not being able to release his returns because he was under audit, Guthrie said he was wrong, making him angrier. As in the first debate, he constantly tried to talk over Guthrie with more lies such as his claim he has a plan for replacing the Affordable Care Act but couldn’t describe what it is.

About the virus surging in most states and the packed hospitals, DDT repeated that the U.S. “was rounding the corner” and “we’re a winner.” Instead, the over 373,000 cases added in the past week—almost 46,000 more than the previous week—is growth not seen since July. The number of cases in the U.S. for the past 24 hours rose to over 70,000. Loudly and defensively, DDT presented a combative stance as he used falsehoods to fight Guthrie; i.e., using nonexistent voter fraud with lies of thousands of ballots thrown into garbage cans as his excuse for not accepting the election results.

In her MSNBC show following DDT’s town hall, Rachel Maddow topped the hour with an interview with Caroline Giuliani, the daughter of DDT’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, about Caroline’s editorial for Vanity Fair. Caroline urged people to “end Donald Trump’s reign of terror” and vote for Biden and Kamala Harris. She called her father “the president’s personal bulldog” and part of DDT’s collection of corrupt “yes-men.”

U.S. intelligence told DDT that Russia used Giuliani’s interaction with its intelligence to feed Russian propaganda lies about Joe Biden. The U.S. intelligence agencies told DDT that Giuliani was the target of this influence operation through Giuliani’s interaction with Russian intelligence. National security adviser Robert O’Brien tried to protect DDT from “saying something stupid” by warning him that Giuliani’s information from Ukraine would be contaminated by Russia. DDT ignored O’Brien, and Giuliani continued to abet Russia in their propaganda interference in the U.S. election.

This week, Giuliani spread information supposedly from Hunter Biden’s laptop, and the New York Post printed the material although it hasn’t been authenticated. In an op-ed for Hot Air, conservative Ed Morrissey called the publication of Hunter Biden’s private crossing the line and “very creepy,” possibly not even about Hunter Biden. The possibly fake details of how Giuliani obtained the laptop contents are here. Until DDT’s impeachment acquittal, he denied he sent Giuliani to Ukraine for damaging information about Biden. He reversed those lies in a podcast interview with Geraldo Rivera by telling him he told Giuliani to go to Ukraine.

Several reporters commented on the “two planets” of the two town halls, but the best may have come from Bloomberg’s Ryan Teague Beckwith:

“I just switched over from the Trump to Biden town halls and it’s like switching from Ancient Aliens to PBS NewsHour.”

Rachel Maddow spent 20 minutes discussing DDT’s dangerous lies as well as his promotion of conspiracy theories. A fact-check from the New York Times shows the overwhelming difference between DDT’s lies and Biden’s solid statements.

DDT’s town hall was supposed to have an audience of undecided voters, but the “nodding woman” immediately behind DDT is an avowed supporter of DDT who told him after the event, “We have your back! You see, you see, you are the best.”

One advantage of separate town halls, however, is Biden being able to talk with incessant interruptions from DDT seen in the first debate. Because of the difference, Biden was able to answer questions about policy, something DDT never does and tries to block Biden from doing by yelling over him.

The media was convinced before the town halls that DDT’s audience would be much larger than that for Biden. DDT lost to Biden 14.1 million on just one station to 13.1 million on three stations—NBC, MSNBC, and CNBC. NBC received only 10.6 million.

DDT’s polls are so consistently bad that at least seven senators in tight races aren’t using his name in their advertising. Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) is more secure in a solidly red state so he decided to appear principled. He set up a telephone town hall with constituents with a rigged question in order to say DDT has “flirted with white supremacists,” mocks Christian evangelicals in private, and “kisses dictators’ butts.” Sasse also criticized DDT’s handling of COVID-19 and accused him of using the White House for personal business benefits. Ben Mathis-Lilley pointed out Sasse’s comments deliberately distanced himself from DDT. About Sasse, Mathis-Lilley wrote, “He got what he wanted, and now he wants to save his reputation and his party’s.” In the past, Sasse has made noises about running for president, and he marches in lockstep with other unethical GOP senators to destroy the country by putting unqualified, radical right judges in the courts.

DDT marched on with campaigning on Friday, speaking in both Florida and Georgia. Among his other lies was an excuse for not bringing in donations: he said he “could be the world’s greatest fundraiser” but doesn’t want to work or do things for the donations. His new numbers show he’s the first incumbent in modern times to be at a financial disadvantage.

Biden and DDT have their third and final debate on October 22—if DDT shows up.

Debate Civil But Sexist: Highlights

Last night’s vice-presidential debate, the second most watched in history, drew 57 million watchers. Ostensibly, the debate had only two participants, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and VP Mike Pence, but the fly who dropped onto Pence’s hair for two minutes and two seconds drew great attention from both serious and comedic commentators. The Biden campaign found the fly useful, not only with the domain name “flywillvote.com” for voter registration but also in its fundraiser request, “Pitch in $5 to help this campaign fly.” The campaign brought in $12 million during the debate. Merchandising also took advantage of flygate, including a commemorative fly swatter with the slogan “truth over flies” for $10.

Moderator Susan Page of USA Today began the debate sounding firm but, like Chris Wallace with Dictator Donald Trump (DDT) in last week’s debate, soon lost control. Ignoring the moderator, Pence frequently interrupted Harris and demanded she answer his questions when he assumed the role of moderator. Harris calmly responded by saying “Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking” although she occasionally had to repeat the phrase several times. Pence also didn’t respond to Page’s questions by saying, “I want to return to an earlier issue.” He avoided a question about white supremacy by turning to Harris and asked if she and Biden would “pack the [Supreme] Court.”

Pence’s “performance” was supposed to attract the thirty percent of women who DDT had lost in the past few months. His interruptions, patronizing manner, and controlling manner destroyed that possibility. Before the debate, commentators assumed Pence had the edge over Harris because he had been a radio host. Accustomed to radio and not TV, Pence kept his sour face throughout most of the debate. Harris appeared sincere, directly addressing the people. Her former experience as California attorney general and prosecutor gave her the experience to parry any jabs. She knew how to bring home an argument, especially after Pence said DDT had a health plan but couldn’t cite it. DDT is fighting to take health care from people in a Supreme Court case. Looking into the camera, Harris delivered these lines through Page’s interruptions:

“If you have a pre-existing condition, heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer — they’re coming for you. If you are under 26 and on your parents’ insurance, they are coming for you.”

Pence lied and deflected his way through 90 minutes, and some media criticized Harris for not being pushier. That behavior, however, would result in negative reactions, and Harris already faced the media’s xenophobic, misogynic treatment. One-fourth of the coverage about her selection as vice-president candidate fit into those categories, including references to the “angry black woman” and DDT’s description of her as “nasty,” “mad,” and “mean.” During a New Hampshire rally, DDT insinuated that Harris rose through the ranks by having sex with men.

This article shows how Pence dodged, denied, and lied because he could not defend DDT. Comprehensive fact-checking skipped Pence’s accusation that Harris “tried to impeach” DDT. The vice-president should know the House did impeach DDT and Harris was part of the jury for the impeachment trial.

Pence’s lies were horrifying enough, but the worst part came at the end with Page’s question:

“President Trump has several times refused to commit himself to a peaceful transfer of power after the election. If vice president Biden is declared the winner and President Trump refuses to accept a peaceful transfer of power, what would be your role and responsibility as vice president? What would you personally do?”

Pence’s response:

“When you talk about accepting the outcome of the election, I must tell you, Senator, your party has spent the last three and a half years trying to overturn the results of the last election.”

He followed this attack with “buzzwords” such as “spied on . . . my campaign,” “Hillary Clinton” and “no obstruction, no collusion.”

Pence’s and DDT’s failure to commit to the law in peacefully transferring power by accepting election results, combined with their reinforcement of white supremacist violence, bodes poorly for a quiet administrative shift, especially with the GOP record of voter suppression through lawsuits, voter purges, mail delivery slowdown, false fraud accusations, etc.  Pence attacked Democrats for impeaching DDT, repeated conspiracy theories about President Obama’s administration, and smeared Hillary Clinton again. He said he had “confidence” in the election only if DDT won and repeated lies about the rampant fraud of mail-in voting.

Early this morning, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) tweeted

“Democracy isn’t the objective; liberty, peace, and prospefity (sic) are. We want the human condition to flourish. Rank democracy can thwart that.”

Diagnosed with COVID-19, Lee may also be on steroids.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) caused another meltdown from DDT with her planned legislation for a “Commission on Presidential Capacity” intended “to help ensure effective and uninterrupted leadership in the highest office in the Executive Branch of government.” DDT tweeted:

“Crazy Nancy is the one who should be under observation.”

In his own “crazy” moment, DDT is demanding that his enabler AG Bill Barr indict Joe Biden for imaginary crimes before the election.

In the vice-presidential debate with Harris, Pence denied DDT refused to criticize white supremacists in his own debate the week prior although DDT’s statements are on video tape. DDT has consistently blamed the “antifa” (people opposed to fascism) for all violence, but his own FBI director blames white supremacist extremists for much of the domestic terrorism. For example, this headline in Michigan’s Detroit News about its Democratic governor, Gretchen Whitmer: “Plans to kidnap Whitmer, overthrow government spoiled, officials say.”

Earlier this year, members of the Wolverine Watchmen militia, objecting to the public health lockdown of businesses in the state, marched into the state capitol with semi-automatic rifles and closed down the legislature. After the militia’s protests at the capitol in Lansing, DDT tweeted on May 1:

“The Governor of Michigan should give a little, and put out the fire. These are very good people, but they are angry. They want their lives back again, safely! See them, talk to them, make a deal.”

At least two of the men at the capitol participated in the plot to kidnap Whitmer and take her to a remote location to stand “trial” for treason. Some of the militia surveilled Whitmer’s vacation home, the planned location of the crime, by taking videos and considering the demolition of a nearby bridge to slow law enforcement response. They also held field exercises, testing an explosive.

Whitmer declared DDT “complicit” in fomenting extremists:

“Just last week, the president of the United States stood before the American people and refused to condemn white supremacists and hate groups like these two Michigan militia groups. ‘Stand back and stand by,’ he told them. Stand back and stand by.

“Hate groups heard the president’s words not as a rebuke, but as a rallying cry. As a call to action. When our leaders speak, their words matter. They carry weight. When our leaders meet with, encourage, or fraternize with domestic terrorists, they legitimize their actions and they are complicit.”

Thirteen people, all from Michigan except one, were charged for “elaborate plans’ in the kidnapping and instigating a civil war and overthrowing state governments. FBI and state police arrested several of the conspirators at a meeting where they pooled funds for explosives and exchanged gear. In a congressional hearing last July, AG Bill Barr said he didn’t know the militia  protesters in Michigan called for Whitmer “to be lynched, shot and beheaded” because “there are a lot of protests.”

DDT attacked Whitmer Thursday because she didn’t criticize antifa.

DDT’s next scheduled debate with Joe Biden, October 15, may be canceled. Saying he doesn’t want to waste his time on a virtual debate, determined by the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates, DDT threatens to be a no-show and claimed he might do another campaign rally. Biden’s response to DDT’s refusal is to organize a town hall appearance for himself.

Still on steroids, DDT expressed his fear of Harris on Fox Business this morning. In an hour-long wandering monologue, DDT’s voice sounded rough, he coughed, and he worked to clear his throat. He called Harris a “monster” twice, and a Communist instead of a socialist. Her pearls, ala Jackie Kennedy and Barbara Bush, proper suit, and classy pumps belie DDT’s view as a “monster.”  [harris monster] DDT attacked FBI Director Christopher Wray, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and even loyalist AG Bill Barr. The 74-year-old, obese man with a number of health issues said, “I’m back because I am a perfect physical specimen and I’m extremely young.” And 48 more head-shaking comments from the man on drugs.

The White House still won’t release the time of DDT’s last negative virus test. Some people surmise he was already positive at “The Rose Garden Massacre” where DDT introduced his new Supreme Court nominee, five days before his announcement of the diagnosis.

At this time, DDT is also blaming Gold Star families for infecting him at his Gold Star Mother’s Day event on the day after the “massacre.” In trying to appear selfless, he said he was unable to stop them from touching him although he knew it was dangerous. The joint chiefs of staff are now in quarantine because two military figures, Coast Guard Vice Commandant Charles W. Ray Adm. Charles W. Ray and Assistant Marine Commandant Gen. Gary Thomas, have tested positive for the coronavirus, but none of the families has indicated any infections—yet.

Harris won the debate by more than 30 points and came in ahead of Pence with men by two points. In the UK Guardian, Jill Filipovic wrote:

“There was no real contest in the vice-presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Mike Pence. Harris wiped the floor with him. Pence ignored, patronized and talked over the two women in the room. Her strategy was cool competence. His was sexist entitlement.”

Pence may not have noticed the fly, but this cat did as did former Republican David Frum. Long live the fly!

DDT: Week 189 – Military, Mind, & Body

Dictator Donald Trump (DDT) faced three major disasters the past week: the revelation about his negative attitude toward wounded, killed, or captured service members; the possibility that he suffered one or more strokes last fall; and the growing number of COVID-19 infections and deaths in the U.S.

Since the bombshell dropped yesterday about DDT’s disparagement for veterans, he vehemently denied calling them “losers” and “suckers” per a revelation from an Atlantic article by its editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg. He also denied calling former presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), now deceased, a loser.

Some of the points:

DDT wouldn’t visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery during his 2018 trip to France for the 100th anniversary of World War I’s conclusion because he didn’t want to muss his hair and he didn’t find honoring the American war dead to be important.

DDT described the 1,800 Marines losing their lives at Belleau Woods “suckers” for getting killed and said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.”

DDT also described former president George H.W. Bush, a Navy pilot in World War II, a “loser” for being shot down by the Japanese.

After McCain’s death, DDT told his senior staff, “We’re not going to support that loser’s funeral” and became furious at seeing the flags lowered to half-staff.”

After a White House briefing by then-chair of the joint Chiefs of Staff, Joe Dunford, DDT asked his aides, “That guy is smart. Why did he join the military?”

A short time before DDT made John Kelly his chief of staff, DDT stood with him at the grave of his son, Robert Kelly, and asked, “I don’t get it. What was in it for them?” (Kelly realized later DDT didn’t mean selflessness but understood DDT doesn’t understand DDT doesn’t understand the concept.)

DDT made exaggerated claims about receiving the bodies of slain service members “many, many” times and calling “virtually all” families of service members who died: he’s gone to Dover Air Force Base only four times since he was inaugurated and rush-shipped condolence letters to families who said DDT wasn’t telling the truth.

When planning his military parade, DDT told his staff not to include wounded veterans because spectators would be uncomfortable by seeing amputees. “Nobody wants to see that,” he said.

In response to DDT’s claim he has done more than anyone else for the military:

A pay raise: Military members received a pay raise every year since 1961.

The Veterans Choice health care program: Introduced by McCain, the bill was signed into law by President Obama in 2014. (DDT falsely claimed over 150 times he got the program created.)

Increase in military spending: DDT gave the military more money to buy equipment—tanks, ships, planes—he thinks will make him look powerful.

Care of service members: DDT minimized traumatic brain injuries as “headaches.”

Visits to the military: DDT visited military hospitals three times in over three years, compared to Barack Obama’s 29 visits in his eight-year term.

Military construction funding: DDT took billions from the military to build his southern border wall and sent thousands of service members from their families for his immigration “emergency”—painting his wall and posting razor wife.

Valuing allies and overseas commitments: DDT unleashed a tirade against top military members including Dunford and then Defense Secretary James Mattis, decorated combat veterans, calling them “dopes and babies” for their attempted briefing of him.

War crimes: DDT reversed punishments or convictions for troops convicted or accused of war crimes dishonoring the military.

Honoring military members: DDT demeaned the Gold Star parents of a Muslim soldier who died in Iraq.

In June, Max Boot, a former Republican, wrote about the only military DDT admires—the Confederacy. Now, however, the beleaguered GOP presidential candidate hope to prove his loyalty to the military by saving Stars and Stripes, after the Pentagon decided to shut it down. Funded by Congress, the first copy of the newspaper was published in 1861 and then revived in 1918. Fifteen senators wrote Defense Secretary Mark Esper “that the department is legally prohibited from canceling a budget program while a temporary continuing resolution funding the federal government is in effect.” Caught between his problems with both the media and the military, DDT rode to the publication’s rescue with a tweet announcing that the “magazine” won’t close “under my watch.”

The focus on DDT attacking the military moved media attention from the possibility of DDT having strokes. Michael Schmidt’s book Donald Trump v. the United States discussed DDT’s emergency run to the hospital last fall, but DDT publicized “mini-strokes” by tweeting a denial about having them. Video shows him unable to lift a small glass of water with one hand, walk comfortably down a ramp, and climb up three steps without almost falling. He frequently mispronounces simple words such as “citizens” and failed to correctly read a teleprompter at his acceptance speech, saying “profoundly accepting” instead of “proudly.” His flubs are now accompanied by #TrumpIsNotWell.

All White House officials deny any illness on DDT’s part, especially VP Mike Pence, who can’t “recall” being on standby for DDT going under anesthesia. His doctors also deny any brain problems, but DDT’s doctors are known for lying for him. People point out he has been dragging his leg, and his voice in speeches is becoming more and more flat. In February 2017, DDT sent his bodyguard to seize DDT’s medical files from Dr. Harold Bornstein who said DDT dictated the 2016 note stating he would be “healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”

Physical symptoms of a mini-stroke, according to Dr. David Paydarfar, chair of the Department of Neurology at the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, include “slurred speech, imbalance, weakness or clumsiness of one or more limb(s), loss of cognitive function” and the cognitive symptoms include “problems with comprehension and/or expression of speech, loss of recall, loss of other intellectual function like calculation, visuo-spatial orientation.”

Order your vaccine now, the CDC tells state governments. Be ready before November 1 even if the vaccine isn’t sufficiently tested. Waive licensing and permit requirements. With no justification, the CDC issued new guidelines telling states to not bother testing asymptomatic people exposed to COVID-19. Go back to your normal life without masks and social distancing; send your kids to school, says DDT’s new coronavirus guru, Scott Atlas. That way weaker people will die and the other people might become immune. These are DDT’s new strategies for the pandemic. The coronavirus task force waited until Dr. Anthony Fauci, the voice of reason, was in surgery before making recommendations.

States lack funding for vaccinating, and the federal government, which gave away over $10 billion to develop vaccines, hasn’t offered funding to states. The requirement of two shots three to four weeks apart using the same brand makes the procedure extremely complicated. Only 55 percent of the people said they would be vaccinated, partly because of distrust in the government after DDT’s frequent bogus claims and his refusal to permit the CDC to use scientific methods. If the U.S. can’t test people, how can it vaccinate them.

Science journalist Laurie Garrett writes:

“If a vaccine comes out before the election, there are very good reasons not to take it.”

According to Garrett, none of the over 150 vaccines being researched worldwide completed Phase 3 safety and efficacy clinical trials, and under two months remain until DDT’s election deadline. Even front-runners still search for clinical trials volunteers—at least 30,000 per potential vaccine, a sampling number too small for safety from complications as shown by the rush in 2009 to vaccinate against the swine flu leading to Guillain-Barré paralysis in 62 people. In 1955, the rush for a polio vaccine led to thousands being paralyzed and the deaths of five children.

Health agency directors caved into pressure from federal top officials, leading to a complete lack of confidence in any of their guidelines. Adding to DDT’s history of recommending unproved treatments and cures for COVID-19, remdesivir, touted as life-saving, was shown last month to have no clear benefits. Yet the FDA expanded its use. The FDA put off approval of convalescent plasma therapy for the virus treatment because scientists determined the success of the therapy had no evidence. More pressure resulted in a reversal of the FDA with wild lies about its success, and FDA Director Steven Hahn ended up with the blame for the lies. HHS Secretary Alex Azar removed authority for FDA to approve or deny the licensing of COVID-19 tests. On August 25, Azar took regulation from the market, boosting the stock market.

Three vaccine experts concluded no two companies in the world test their products in the same way, and the FDA has no standard against which to measure the vaccines’ efficacy. Comparison of one to another is impossible. No one knows how parts of the human immune system play in fighting COVID-19, especially T-cell responses, and no one can say what type of immunity will protect someone and for how long. World Health Organization standards require enough strength to protect half the vaccinated people against infection whereas the FDA requires “majority.” The U.S. refused to join the WHO Solidarity Vaccines Trial in a coalition of 172 nations. The push for a vaccine in the U.S. is in competition with the world. This extremely experimental product must be stored at -80 degree F temperature, well below the temperature of a standard freezer.

Meanwhile in the U.S., another 1,033 COVID-19 deaths (total 192,111) in the past 24 hours and an increase of daily cases 52,853 (total 6,389,057).

Darkness of GOP Convention, DDT Dictatorship

The GOP presidential campaign began this morning. Last week, Dictator Donald Trump (DDT) had complained the Democratic convention was the “darkest” and “gloomiest” one in history, and he promised to outdo that convention. He succeeded. From his acceptance speech this morning when he raged about mail-in voting to Tim Scott’s about Democrats’ racism, all optimism was abandoned on Day One of the GOP convention. Donald Trump Jr’s girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, outdid all the other speakers however, especially in volume, when she yelled the message of the evening, “[Democrats] want to destroy this country and everything that we have fought for and hold dear. They want to steal your liberty, your freedom.” (She also lied about being “a first generation American.) “For some unknown reason, the party wanting to erase a free media thinks Democrats want to erase freedom of speech and thought. Cuban American immigrant Maximo Alvarez accused Joe Biden of being like Castro because Biden claims to be a Roman Catholic. (He really is.)

Because DDT has manifested so many racial qualities, speakers both defended DDT and accused all Democrats of being racists and deliberately harming Blacks. Over half of the country thinks DDT is a racist, including 14 percent of Republicans. Also struggling with COVID-19, DDT talked with a few healthcare workers. Videos also showed Democrats downplaying the virus’ severity (back during a time when they were trying to get equipment and supplies from DDT) while he took his one “decisive action”—banning some travel from China.

Although DDT ridiculed the taped speeches at the Democratic convention, all except one speech, that from Guilfoyle, were taped in the same huge hall with flags in the background, giving a stale feeling to the performance. The beginning message was a desire for the “America comeback”—after DDT have been in the leadership role for almost three years and seven months.

New York Times tried to fact check.

A few lies I jotted down:

Charlie Kirk talked about Democrats catering to “faceless corporations.” (That’s the Republicans’ job.)

A teacher praised DDT’s love for the children. (But just the white ones.)

According to a women in Montana, God gave her money from the government for her business. (I thought it was Congress and the taxpayers.)

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) criticized Democrats for their support for “celebrities.” (The Apprentice produced tonight’s event.

Calling herself a “real housewife,” Ronna McDaniel, RNC chair, described DDT as having “deep love for family” and “comforts Americans in times of pain and sadness.” (When?)

Other consistent lies were the “greatest economy the world has ever seen” and efficiency in getting ventilators and supplies to states. (Nope.)

The classic performance came from the Mark and Patricia McCloskey (upper right), St. Louis personal injury lawyers who pulled guns on a group of protesters many of them black who walked on the sidewalk and street in front of the McCloskeys on the way to the mayor’s house to demonstrate. Their sweet earnestness was supposed to represent the suburbs being menaced by the “black hoards” although they live in the middle of the city. (Check out their record in suing people and being bad neighbors to the Jewish synagogue next door.)

DDT spent last week proving his “dictator” title.

In the midst of 12,000 lightning strikes, California is trying to cope with the worst fires in history. During his speech in Pennsylvania, DDT sounded like a mob boss when he threatened to withhold money from California. ‘

“I said you gotta clean your floors. You gotta clean your forests. Maybe we’re just going to have to make them pay for it, because they don’t listen to us.”

In California, each resident sends $348 more money than the state receives—a total of $13.7 billion. California taxpayers provides about 15 percent of total revenues for the U.S. In addition, the Border Patrol is terrorizing immigrants: agents pretend to be firefighters and then arrest people believed to be undocumented. Ten of the arrested men in California were certified firefighters from Oregon. [Other horrifying photos of a California fire.]

On the last night of the Democratic convention, DDT called Sean Hannity to make another false tirade about voter fraud. Despite no evidence of any individual voting fraud at the polls, he said he would send law enforcement to pools—sheriffs, law enforcement, U.S. attorneys, “everybody, and attorney generals [sic].” At the same time, Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms delivered a tribute to the late civil rights icon John Lewis.

“There are those who are disgracefully using this pandemic to spread misinformation and interfere with voting, forcing many in 2020 to still risk their lives to exercise their sacred right to vote, a right that has already been paid for with the blood, sweat, tears, and lives of so many. So let’s stand up for our children, our children’s children, and for this great democracy that our ancestors worked to build, and let’s vote.”

It wasn’t the first time DDT had made that claim. In Altoona (PA) during his last campaign, he said he’d call in law enforcement, sheriffs, and police chiefs although hadn’t been elected. In a 1981 roadblock, the GOP was barred from dispatching poll watchers for over 30 years after a lawsuit because the RNC used “poll watchers”—off-duty sheriffs and police officers with “National Ballot Security Task Force” armbands—to stand round in polling places of minority precincts and intimidate non-White voters. The ban on that activity expired in early 2018.

DDT pulled the U.S. out of the Iran agreement to not built nuclear weapons, but he still wants control. The sanctions against Iran’s buying and selling conventional weapons expires in October, but DDT wants to reimpose these sanctions in a “snapback.” In a meeting with the UN ambassador from Indonesia, head of the Security Council this month, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the U.S. will veto any move for prohibitions to be lifted.  Russia, France, Germany, and Britain pointed out that the U.S. has no voice in the matter because it dropped out of the deal. DDT, who attacked the UN and unilaterally sanctioned Iran, now try to invoke the agreement he rejected to keep the constraints on Iran. John Bolton, former national security adviser, said, “We’re in the nuclear deal for purposes we want but not for those we don’t.” He added the U.S. veto in the Security Council can be undermined. Lead diplomat of the U.S. sneered at Russia and China, claiming is opposition is “disinformation tactics” before he tore down relationships with Europe by claiming “they chose to side with the ayatollahs.” DDT maintains he has a voice in the deal because the U.S. was a “participant state” in the original agreement. All the countries met their parts of the agreement until DDT announced his intention of dropping out.

DDT’s administration is hiring a private security company secretly keeping migrant children as young as one-year-old at major hotel chains. Instead of stopping additional migration, the policy of closing the border has caused the border crossings to surge because some legal consequences for repeat attempts have been eliminated. Using transportation workers not licensed to provide child care, the process allows abuse of children who have no access to parents or lawyers. No one can guarantee children are provided phones, healthy food, and medical/mental healthcare. Detention is at a Quality Suites (San Diego), Hampton Inns (Phoenix, McAllen and El Paso, TX), Comfort Suits (Miami), Best Western (Los Angeles), and Econo Lodge (Seattle). ICE guards have also been found systematically sexually assaulting immigrants in an El Paso detention facility with about 50,000 immigrants annually at a taxpayer expense of $2.7 billion.

In a “prebuttal” to Barack Obama speaking at the Democratic Convention, VP Mike Pence compared the number of manufacturing jobs he created to those DDT created. He picked the day that DDT called for a boycott on Goodyear because a local Kansas station ran a story about Goodyear diversity training slideshow recommended workers not wear political attire—including MAGA clothing Goodyear stated it did not create, distribute, or use the production. Yet DDT tweeted:

“Don’t buy GOODYEAR TIRES – They announced a BAN ON MAGA HATS. Get better tires for far less! (This is what the Radical Left Democrats do. Two can play the same game, and we have to start playing it now!)”

DDT desperately wants to win Ohio, the home of Goodyear in Akron.

Joe Biden is running this ad in Ohio and North Carolina where Goodyear has a plant near Fayetteville:

“A company with a 122-year history in Akron, Ohio; thousands of American workers, and competitors all over the world; and a sitting president, who’s spinning out of control, would risk American jobs to try to save his own.”

The Lincoln Project, Republicans opposing the reelection of DDT, has this ad. The day after DDT called for the boycott, he said he recognized Goodyear workers could lose their jobs but they could “get another good jobs [sic]”.

A quotation from DDT: “Women—treat ‘em like shit.” DDT has never denied saying this.
